CatholicChat: un nuovo modo di vivere la catechesi

Can anything good come from ChatAI?
This question echoes the question of Nathanael when Phillip told him that he had found the Messiah. Indeed, can we “trust” the generated answers from AIs?

The answer is that it could. Lo and behold, CatholicChat.
Catholic Chat is an AI generated response that answers all questions that can be answered by the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It has three programs: for children, for adults, and for scholars. Depending on what category you want your answers to come from, it can be simple and easy (child), or thoughtful answers for an inquiring mind (adult), and if you want no tables to be left unturned, then proceed with the scholar category.
This interactive platform that allows users to engage with the Catechism in a natural and conversational way is developed by Fivable, a South Carolina-based tech company serving commercial clients, founded in 2010 by Bryan Murdaugh and Dave Matney with its mission is “to free people from doing too many computer things so they have more time to do really human things.” Fivable has trained the technology that powers ChatGPT in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Bishop Frank Caggiano of Bridgeport, Connecticut says that CatholicChat is “a place where the faithful can engage with a text [the Catechism] that can seem daunting or unfamiliar to many. Families can use it to start a conversation about any element of the faith. Teachers can use it to ensure what they teach is the truth. Students can use it to look up answers to questions about their faith. Even clergy can use it to infuse a little bit of the Catechism into their homilies at Sunday Mass.”
