Una mesa redonda, que tuvo lugar en Radio María el pasado 10 de marzo, subrayó el valor de la lectura de la Biblia, contextualizándola en la historia y la geografía
The parish of St. Anthony in Karachi (Pakistan) welcomed its 18 laypeople who received their mandate as catechists/ “pastoral workers”. The mass and the solemn missionary sending was presided by Monsignor Benny Mario Travas, Archbishop of Karachi. Called to serve others and reach out to those in need, they were admonished by the Archbishop to be «like Christ, imitate Christ and recognize Christ in each person… for what (one) does for the Church is a service, not a role. All ministry in the Church is a service to others». Pastoral workers attended courses on the Doctrine of the Faith, the study of the Sacred Scriptures, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Sacraments, and Pastoral Care. They will visit the homes of the faithful in the area, stopping for a 15-20 minute prayer meeting in every home to read and reflect on a passage from the Gospel. To read more about the said confirmation of the ministry, see the link below.
In the light of the service of the Gospel, Pakistan is also home to the Pauline Family as it has welcomed the presence of the Daughters of Saint Paul for more than fifty years already. The Sisters, being present in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi, also opened bookshops in these areas, where they served as avenues in the congregation’s charism and its mission of spreading the Word of God and making it available to all.
