Thursday, May 12, at 18.00 (Italian time) on Zoom, the Federation of Jewish-Christian Friendships presents the third volume of the work La Bibbia dell’Amicizia. Brani dei Ketuvim/Scritti commentati da ebrei e cristiani (The Bible of Friendship. Ketuvim Excerpts/Writings commented by Jews and Christians) published by Edizioni San Paolo.
The speakers are Ester Abbattista, biblical scholar and professor; Massimo Giuliani, professor at the University of Trento; Francesco Mosca, director of the monthly magazine Il Messaggero Avventista. The conference moderator is Giulio Piperno, of the young AEC.
“A commentary on the Bible written by several hands by Jews and Christians is, in the Italian panorama, and not only, a novelty. In this historical moment, with the return of anti-Semitic prejudices and a growing ignorance of the biblical text, a collaboration between scholars of the two monotheistic religions who share the same Bible is a sign of friendship. This volume is born from the encounter of two realities: love for the Word of God and friendship between Jews and Christians. For millennia Jews and Christians have been reading and meditating on the Bible separately. For some decades, Jews and Christians have begun a path of dialogue to overcome hatred and misunderstandings. It is now possible to start reading the Bible together” underlines the editorial director don Simone Bruno. “The aim of the project is to make the Bible taste and make Jews and Christians dialogue, for the first time in such an articulated way, on the founding text of the two religions.”
