Ethiopia: One of the Oldest Bibles Rediscovered

The world’s oldest Bible is found in Ethiopia. Made of parchment and accompanied by illustrations still well preserved, it was found a year ago in an ancient Orthodox monastery in the highlands of Tigray. It has been dated between 330 and 650 A.D. thanks to a carbon test that gave it this record.  The manuscripts were made by hand by the monk Abba Garima, whose figure and achievements have fallen between history and legend. The link between the Christian religion and Ethiopia dates back to ancient times and treasures such as The Gospels of Garima, recently dated and by an English charity, the Ethiopian Heritage Fund, confirm this. The manuscript was found in an ancient Orthodox monastery. The figure of Garima, considered and celebrated as one of the Nine Holy Evangelizers from the Eastern Roman Empire, is suspended between legend and reality. It is said that it only took the monk a day to make these manuscripts because God would have prevented the sun from setting.
