The “Minute of God” Which Lasted 38 Years

New and extraordinary experiences often flourish around the Word of God. One of these involved the Eudist father Rafael García Herreros. On February 8, 1950, he suggested to the state television of Cartagena (Colombia) that he could hold a short radio program entitled El Minuto de Dios (The Minute of God). Remembering those times, he said in an interview with the newspaper EL TIEMPO: “It came to my mind one day, and it was an intuition, that there had to be a minute on earth of Divinity so that there would be peace , silence, faith and joy in this world. It is only a moment, but it is the time of truth; In other words, the Minute of God expresses an instant of God on earth”. El Minuto de Dios will become the oldest religious television program: a short space that from 10 January 1955 appears daily on Colombian television, presented by Father Rafael García Herreros, that entered the Colombian houses bringing you the freshness of the Word of God. Father Rafael’s face became so familiar to all, that he was soon baptized by journalists as the “Tele-Father”. The program continued for over 38 years. Experiencias inéditas y extraordinarias a menudo florecen en torno a la Palabra de Dios. Uno de ellos es el que involucra al padre eudista Rafael García Herreros. El 8 de febrero de 1950 propuso a la TV Estatal de Cartagena (Colombia) poder realizar un breve programa radial titulado “El Minuto de Dios”. Recordando aquellos tiempos, dijo en entrevista con el diario EL TIEMPO: “Un día se me ocurrió, y fue una intuición, que tenía que haber un minuto, en la tierra, de Divinidad, para que hubiera paz, silencio. , fe y alegría en este mundo. Es sólo un momento, pero es el tiempo de la verdad; es decir, el Minuto de Dios expresa un instante de Dios en la tierra”. “El Minuto de Dios” se convertirá en el más antiguo programa de televisión: breve espacio que se presenta diariamente en la televisión colombiana desde el 10 de enero de 1955, presentado por el padre Rafael García Herreros, quien así entraba en los hogares colombianos llevando la frescura de la Palabra de Dios.El rostro del padre Rafael se hizo tan familiar para todos, que pronto fue bautizado por los periodistas como el “Tele-Padre”. El programa se mantuvo durante más de 38 años.
