As Holy Week approaches, the Martini Foundation proposes to listen again to the audios from the 1983-1984 School of the Word: meditations beginning with Psalm 50 (51), which Martini wanted
The Bible is a spiritual, ethical and symbolic heritage of humanity, a set of important resources for everyone, not only for those who call themselves believers. From this premise-conviction comes the proposal of the ‘School of Biblical Economics’ for a weekend of spiritual exercises (this coming November) aimed primarily, though not exclusively, at people who do not identify with a specific religious belief. The course will be taught by Prof. Luigino Bruni, based on some of his texts, in particular the commentary on the Psalms (L’anima e la cetra, Qiqajon, 2021), the book of Job (La sventura di un uomo giusto, Dehoniane 2016) and some articles on ethical and spiritual issues, with interventions by some guests and experts. This will take place in early November. If we think about it, terms such as market, currency, debt, sacrifice… are very present in the biblical account, as are several economic categories: hence the idea of a School of Biblical Economics that makes Scripture dialogue with the facts, dynamics and fundamentals of contemporary economics.
