Daddy Yank says goodbye to music to devote himself to faith. At 46 years old, the Puerto Rican singer, rapper, producer and author of songs such as “Gasolina” has decided to change his life. “I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him,” he explained to his fans after his last concert held at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico. “For many years I have been trying to fill a void in my life that no one has been able to fill,” he continued. “I went in search of a purpose and on many occasions I seemed to be happy but something was missing in me that made me feel complete. One chapter is over but a new one will begin,” he added. “All the tools I have in my power like music, social media platforms, a microphone- everything God has given me now is for his kingdom. Thank you, Puerto Rico, and I hope you will walk with me in this new beginning and I hope you remember something very important: don’t follow any person. I am human. For all the people who follow me, follow Jesus Christ, he is the way, the truth and the life.” Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Rodríguez, was a true reggaeton legend and had one of the most successful musical careers in Latin American history. He owes his collaboration with Luis Fonsi the 2017 hit “Despacito,” which became the first Spanish-language song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot chart.
