The Bible and the Koran are texts on the one hand similar, on the other radically different. The difficulties and the charm of a confrontation, today unavoidable, derive from the dense interweaving of similarities and differences. When looking for common points, differences emerge and vice versa. There is no doubt that entire civilizations are still marked by the direct or indirect presence of these two Books. Biblical and Koranic conceptions have affected mentality and behavior. To understand it it is enough to consider terms like God, revelation, good and evil, the end of time, the Last Judgment. Equally important is to think about the ways in which the communities that those Books receive, read and transmit are defined and operated in history: the people of Israel, the Church, the Muslim umma.
