Our invitation to read the Bible is born out of the fruitful collaboration between SOBICAIN (International Catholic Bible Society) and the Aletti Centre. Each week we will offer key elements for reading a book of the Bible by means of a brief introduction and an Icon explained. In this video the icon presents Elijah’s Rapture into Heaven (2Kings 2). The prophets are faithful interpreters of history according to the Word of God, indicating how God acts within it. The prophet Elijah is raptured into heaven on the chariot of fire, a sign of divine love, toward the place where he belongs. The disciple Elisha receives the inheritance in the mantle, which invests him with the same mission.
