Our invitation to read the Bible is born out of the fruitful collaboration between SOBICAIN (International Catholic Bible Society) and the Aletti Centre. Each week we will offer key elements for reading a book of the Bible by means of a brief introduction and an Icon explained. In this video the icon presents Ruth, the Matriarch (Ru 1). From Ruth is born Obed, in the genealogy of David. The Moabite widow, remaining a faithful comfort to Naomi, becomes fruitful. The gleaner, an image of Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word, is the good ground from whose lineage the true sheaf will germinate: Jesus, bread of new life.
