Launched in 2003 in Frankfurt during the Biblical Year declared by the Catholic and Protestant Churches, the initiative by the Daughters of St. Paul to copy the entire Bible by hand has today been enshrined as a museum piece. Over the years, bookstore patrons, passersby, families, and school groups all contributed to transcribing the sacred texts. Following the closure of the Frankfurt community in 2005, the project continued its course until the twelve volumes—ten of the Old Testament and two of the New—were finally completed and bound in 2018. However, the official conclusion was only marked recently due to the pandemic. A Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated on October 19th, attended by those who had historically collaborated on the project. The work is now preserved in the Biblical Museum in Nuremberg, standing as a symbol of faith and collective participation.
