“Women should remain silent in the churches.” (1 Corinthians 14:34)

What was the Apostle Paul’s true stance on women in ministry? It is a complex question: how is it possible that Paul’s letters contain such seemingly contradictory positions—appearing remarkably progressive in some passages while remaining strictly bound by the social conventions of his time in others? Whether we can genuinely find the seeds of “gender equality” within Pauline literature remains a subject of intense scholarly debate. These compelling questions will be the focus of an upcoming webinar organized by the Italian Biblical Association, in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of Padua. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM (CET). Participation is free of charge.
