Our invitation to read the Bible is born out of the fruitful collaboration between SOBICAIN (International Catholic Bible Society) and the Aletti Centre. Each week we will offer key elements for reading a book of the Bible by means of a brief introduction and an Icon explained. In this video the icon presents Judith’s prayer (Jdt 9). Judith supplicates for the salvation of the people, holding them safe in her mantle. The widow, precious in the eyes of God, draws the strength to defeat the enemy from her unwavering faith. Under her feet, she holds the head of Holofernes, prefiguring Mary, the new Eve, who crushes the ancient serpent.
