Our invitation to read the Bible is born out of the fruitful collaboration between SOBICAIN (International Catholic Bible Society) and the Aletti Centre. Each week we will offer key elements for reading a book of the Bible by means of a brief introduction and an Icon explained.
In this video the icon presents the serpent lifted up in the desert (Num 21,6): by listening to the serpent’s whisper, the people broke the covenant and experienced death. Yet, God remained faithful and offered healing through the bronze serpent. A symbol of Christ who, by handing himself over to death, transformed it into the supreme manifestation of the God of Love —a love that resurrects us into the newness of life.
