“Invitation to Read the Bible” is a project born from the fruitful collaboration between Sobicain (International Catholic Biblical Society) and the Aletti Center; each week, we offer key insights for reading a specific book of the Bible through a brief introduction and an explanation of the icon that opens the book. In the icon, we see the page of Hos 3. Hosea, by marrying the adulteress, embodies the relationship between God and His people. The prophet clothes his bride with his mantle, demonstrating the gratuitousness of love–the sole power that drives away idols. The wife, still stained by her infidelities, is drawn into the desert, to the well of encounter with the Bridegroom, the God who saves.
