“Invitation to Read the Bible” is a project born from the fruitful collaboration between Sobicain (International Catholic Biblical Society) and the Aletti Center; each week, we offer key insights for reading a specific book of the Bible through a brief introduction and an explanation of the icon that opens the book. In the icon, we see the Baptism of Christ (Mk 1). John the Baptist, holding the revelation about Jesus in his heart, recognizes Him and points to Him as the Lamb of God. Christ emerges from the waters of the Jordan, as the earth and heavens open, and the Spirit rests upon Him. The hand of the Father, fully open to indicate the gift, shows His love for all humanity in the Son.
